On the February 27th, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights, the ex-executive director of the Geneva Center for the Development of Human Rights and the Global Dialogue, ambassador Idriss Jazairy passed away.
Until the very end, he continued to uphold his ideals in advancing the values of human rights and building bridges among different civilizations, to orient the international community towards joint approaches in promoting human rights.
Jazairy held high positions in well-known international organisations such as IFAD, CARE, ACORD. He was one of the influential persons in the field of the human rights protection.
Idriss Jazairy was a good friend of the Caucasus Muslims Board. As the head of the Geneva Center for the Development of Human Rights and the Global Dialogue he participiated in our international interreligious and inter-civilizational conferences. He was one of the major moderators and speakers at the International Conference on theme “From the Interfaith and Inter- Civilizational Cooperation to Human Solidarity” which was held in Vienna, June, 2019.
Caucasus Muslims’ Board regrets the death of Ambassador Idriss Jazairy and expresses its sincere condolences to his family and friends.
May his soul rest in peace. “Inna lillah wa inna ileyhi rajiun”.
